GROVELANDS PRIMARY SCHOOL

Grovelands Primary School

At Grovelands Primary School we believe in striving towards a world where people value the natural environment and care for their communities.

As a Waste Wise and Waterwise school, we help students develop sustainable habits through everyday actions. We rethink what we purchase, reduce waste and water use, reuse materials and recycle or compost wherever possible. Any remaining waste is disposed of responsibly.

Our school garden puts sustainability into practice by using compost made from organic waste to grow a variety of plants, including food crops for our school community.

GEKOES (Grovelands Educating Kids on Environmental Sustainability) gives students opportunities to take an active role in caring for our environment. What began as a small group of senior students has grown into a whole-school approach, with initiatives focused on reducing waste, conserving water, saving energy and supporting our kitchen garden

We have a dedicated student group called GEKOES (Grovelands Educating Kids On Enviornmental Sustainability). The GEKOES program is intended to get students involved in sustainable initiatives around the school. We have extended this program from a small group of senior grade students to a model that includes the whole school. Initiatives that GEKOES are involved with include but are not limited to Wastewise, Waterwise, energy efficiency initiatives and kitchen garden programs.
